ANCER Conference 2014
New Voices, Current Perspectives: Arts Management, Policy and Development in Asia

13 – 15 November 2014

LASALLE College of the Arts
Singapore

Targeting academics, students, researchers, cultural managers, artists and policy makers, the second ANCER conference discussed the larger cultural identity frameworks in the Asia Pacific region, as well as the visions and strategies dealing with cultural policy and education in the cultural and arts sector.

The conference opened this year with the highlight of keynotes delivered by Dr Farish Noor (Associate Professor and Senior Fellow, Nanyang Technological University) and Anmol Vellani (Founder and former Executive Director, India Foundation for the Arts) followed by panel discussions by industry recognised professionals from Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore. This year also featured presentations by upcoming young researchers across the Asia Pacific region.

The conference also incorporated a workshop on cultural collaborations and exchanges between Asia and Europe organised in collaboration with ENCATC (European network cultural Administration Training Centres) – the leading European network on cultural management and cultural policy education – and with support from the ASEF Creative Networks initiative of the Asia-Europe Foundation. The session addressed the question of the foundations of collaboration practices between Asia and Europe and sought a deeper understanding of the assumptions, issues and potential for development.
